Amid a rising wave of persecution of Egypt’s Coptic Christians, human rights group Amnesty International has called on the Islamist government to do more to protect the minority community. In a statement Hassiba Hadj Sahraoui, the Director for the Middle East and North Africa said “Coptic Christians across Egypt face discrimination in law and practice and have been victims of regular sectarian attacks while authorities systematically look the other way.”
